Onam is a harvest festival celebrated in the state of Kerala, India. It is a festival that lasts from four to 10 days with various festive rituals, traditional cuisines, dance and merriment. 
Intricately designed floral mats known as Pookkalam, made with flowers, are placed at the front of the house. A traditional feast consisting of about 10 to 26 sweet and savory dishes are served for family and friends.
