Building Supply Chain Resilience: Insights into Greening Value Chains in ASEAN

DXN Holdings Bhd was honoured to participate in the “Building Supply Chain Resilience: Insights into Greening Value Chains in ASEAN” forum, jointly organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Our Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mahmood Hisham, joined a distinguished panel of experts to discuss strategies for strengthening sustainability and resilience within global value chains.

The forum highlighted the pivotal role of SMEs in ASEAN’s economic landscape and the importance of empowering them to build climate-resilient supply chains. Discussions addressed key challenges in SME decarbonisation, including the need for clearer regulatory frameworks, closing capacity gaps and providing consistent guidance. Recommendations put forward during the event included introducing phased approaches to carbon reporting, enhancing sector-specific capacity building, reframing sustainability in terms of tangible business value, aligning compliance requirements across sectors and making access to green financing more straightforward and inclusive.

Mr. Mahmood Hisham emphasised that coordinated efforts among policymakers, SME development agencies, large corporations, financial institutions and SMEs themselves are essential to enable a successful transition, accelerate decarbonisation efforts and protect the region’s economic resilience.

At DXN Holdings Bhd, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing sustainable business practices and fostering partnerships that promote low-carbon, resilient value chains across Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region. We look forward to continuing this important dialogue and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to support Malaysia’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Lastly, we extend our sincere appreciation to our Sustainability Partner, the @Pantas team and participating suppliers for their invaluable contributions to the development of this GVC Playbook. Their insights and ideas on enhancing climate resilience within supply chains have been instrumental in shaping this initiative.
